Linwë L asked:

My dog, Lucy, gets carsick very easily, and over memorial day weekend we will be driving the long distance to where we are moving. Does anyone know of ways we can help her be more comfortable, or not get sick? Any moving-with-pets-related tips would be helpful too. Thanks in advance!

Stop the car at a rest stop every 10 minutes or so.
Or sedate her.
Or try to distract her by sitting with her with toys and such.
Or have many towels on the seats and put her there. Change it if she gets sick on it.
Try not to feed her much before the trip.

Ask your vet for medication to sedate her during the trip. For some dogs Benedryl is effective to get them to relax and sleep; so that might be a good medication that you can get over the counter.

Ask the vet for a mild sedative.

My pup gets car sick also. Now when we are taking a trip i skip the morning feed.I usually stop every hr. or hr and half.I use a crate when traveling.I have read that if the dog can see out the window, that makes them dizzy and are more likely to be sick. Also, when you stop for breaks offer your doggie some water in small amounts.
