facee asked:

Well I have a cat she's about 5 and shes lived with me in the same house for those five years. She is indoor and outdoor and we've never had any problems wth that.

However now were moving to a new city. It is also about ten degrees hotter there.

Are there any tips for making this a smooth move?

The general rule when moving a cat is to keep her inside for at least ten days after the move. If you let her out before then, she'll probably try to go back to your old house. After ten days, she still might try to go back, but will find her way home to the new house after a while.
Good luck.

If you are preparing for a move and have a feline friend who will be moving with you, or are thinking of bringing a new cat into your home, you should keep in mind that cats are not always big fans of new places. They like their familiar surroundings and territory, and asking them to go to a whole new place with new smells and sounds can be a bit of a shock. You can soften the impact on your cat by being cognizant of this and making sure there are some familiar things for your pet to be comfortable with in the new house.

When many people move into a new house, they think of getting all new things to go with it. This means new furniture for the people, new cat furniture, new everything. This is not the best option for your feline. Save the new cat furniture until your kitty has been in the new digs for a while and has adjusted to the space. When you first move, those familiar pieces of cat furniture that move with you will give your cat a little comfort and a 'piece of home' that will let them know being in this new place is alright..
So basically take blankets and clothes non washed, as well as her tree and toys ect. put her and them in one room of the new house so she has familiar smells and items to comfort her when she has all the new smells and stuff going on, Keep her in for a week at least then let her out gradually on a leash until she becomes comfortable with her new surroundings.
Good luck on her and the new house.
I am doing the same soon.

Just make sure she has all her old stuff. We changed cities when ours was 3 and she loves the new house.

You might consider making her an indoor cat. She might not like the warmer temp. anyway. It's a good time to try. Give her her things to make her comfy & she may not mind at all. Good luck.
